HELENA - The Goldfish blender

When in 2000 Marco Evaristti exhibited his blenders with living goldfish and gave the public the chance to switch them on, not only did he make it onto the front pages of countless newspapers, he was also dragged into court. He was, however, later released.
The artist himself says that this was yet another project on the theme of beauty’s transience - the fine line between existence and nothingness.

When in 2006 “Helena” was reconstructed for the exhibition “Destroyed worlds and the utopia of reconstruction” the installation once again stirred up the public. The very night of the opening intruders destroyed the work and today a law suit has been filed at the Austrian court against Marco Evaristti for violating the animal right´s law.
